Study. Violin. Travel. (to >35 countries on 8 ships)
When others discover I've disconnected the internet in my home this year, the question I'm asked most frequently is: "Does that make you super-productive?"
In some ways, it does. My life is not cluttered by Reddit, Instagram, and Facebook feeds. And I've been fortunate to have the time to travel extensively; I will have traveled to over 35 countries by the end of this year.
Of course, living without Internet has its drawbacks. It's difficult to keep in touch with international friends via phone and email. I can only see my cousins' photos through iPhone PhotoStream. In my schoolwork, I must work ahead in order to submit web assignments (and the weekly blog for this class!) on time via McGill Library internet.
Without constant updates, I must also make an active effort to keep up with world news. I have often found The Economist helpful in keeping me up-to-date on various issues.
